Radiology

Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians find and evaluate injuries and illnesses in your dog or cat. X-rays are commonly used to identify the area and extent of a bone break, to determine the stage of pregnancy (and number of puppies or kittens), to identify potential stomach problems and obstructions, and to find and identify tumors. A single radiographic session is not hazardous for you pet, but depending upon your pet's personality, the extent of injury and the area being x-rayed, a sedative or anesthesia may be administered. While not always necessary, the anesthesia allows us to move your pet into proper positioning without having to risk poor quality images (or having to retake film because your pet moved).
Diagnostic imaging has become an invaluable tool in treating animals. X-rays reveal what cannot be seen on an external examination, providing detailed insight and a path to more effective treatment for your pet.
